Comments: Now this is something special Full, live soundboard recording of the original French production before Cameron Mackintosh changed it into what it is now. Naturally, this means it follows the concept album. The track split, is however a touch random, with some being very short (6seconds) and other very long (30mins) but this is the full show as it then was.

Cast: Salvatore Adamo, Maurice Barrier, Fabrice Bernard, Maryse Cédolin, Yvan Dautin, Michel Delpech, Richard Dewitte, Fabienne Guyon, Rose Laurens, Jacques Mercier, Marie-France Roussel, Michel Sardou, Dominique Tirmont

The reworked show had its world premier in English on 8th October 1985 at the Barbican theater

Single pro camera mounted in the balcony Full stage wide shot throughout, with no close ups Pictures is generated but still quite clear,  although it is over dark so the poorer lit scene can be hard to see. Sound is good.

Comments:
This has been called a 2cam mix which it is but the cameras were filming on different nights. Both cameras are filming from the boxes on different sides of the stage so there's a good mix of views. but they are all somewhat side on. meaning that some of the action taking place at the rear of the stage is missed. A lot of the footage comes from the right hand side. and there aren't all that many edits between angles. There's also a rail in view at times though for the right angle. It's a touch over bright and has been compressed rather a lot but all the same the image is rather good with some good close ups The sound - unsure if this comes from one or both shows - is very good indeed.

Comments: Great recording of the final Performance at the Palace Theatre, before the show got relocated to the Queen's Theatre. Sound is good and clear despite the occasional squeaky seat. Complete with an encore reprise of "One Day More."

Comments: Excellent, clean recording of the show, where everything from the orchestra to the crowd scenes can be heard perfectly. Some of the tracks could have been split a little shorter except at the end where they could have been longer!! and the balance drifts towards the right channel on occasion but those are minor things.

Cast: Drew Sarich as Jean Valjean, Hans Peter Janssens as Javert, Joanna Ampil as Fantine, Melanie La Barrie as Mme Thénardier, Chris Vincent as Thénardier, Gary Watson as Marius, Cassandra Compton as Eponine, Claire-Marie Hall as Cosette, Edward Baruwa as Enjolras

Comments:
Single camera filming from the balcony to stage right. Mostly a good clear view, especially of the rear of the stage, but the balcony rail comes into view at the front, although the filmer does manage to shoot over this on occasion. Picture is clear, and mostly mid range, with no real close ups beyond half height. Missing "Castle on a Cloud" & "Master of the House", along with the start of  act  2.  The second disc ends with just sort of an hours worth of highlights from another performance of the same cast filmed in a  similar fashion - so presumably by the same person - but from a slightly different angle that gives a better view of the stage front although the editing between songs could have been smoother. Some of the sound on this footage was corrupted however and had to be patched from the main one during the re-author.  However, this did not save the sound during "Empty Chairs..."
Cast: Drew Sarich as Jean Valjean, Richard Woodford as Javert (u/s), Allyson Brown as Fantine , Jackie Marks  as Mme Thénardier , Jimmy Johnstone as Thénardier, Jon Robyns as Marius, Nancy Sullivan  as Eponine, Leanne Dobinson as Cosette, David Thaxton as Enjolras

Comments: Near flawless recording from the short period Nick Jonas, joined the regular West End cast in preparation for the O2 concert/s. And, you can clearly tell he needed the practice.  Still Norm Lewis & the rest of the cast more than makes up for that. ACts are untracked.

Comments:
Pro shoot presumably for the open air venue's on site video screens. The show is performed in a similar fashion to the official 'Dream Cast' DVD filmed a year earlier, with the actors, in costume, standing at microphones in front of the orchestra and, indeed, quite of few of the cast are the same as on that performance. There are also on screen prompts as to the major plot developments as well as a photos from the regular stage production mixed in. However, the video has a few minor issues but it is the sound that let's this down as it is VERY quiet, and becomes overly hissy when boasted up to am audible volume, although it does even out a little as the show progresses so if you can adjust for that it sounds great despite there being a few mistakes.
Cast: Jeff Leyton as Jean Valjean, Michael McCarthy as Javert, Ruthie Henshall as Fantine, Matthew Cammelle as Marius, Frances Ruffelle as Eponine, Annalene Beechey as Cosette, David Bardsley as Enjolras, Chris Langham as Thenardier, Gay Soper as Mme Thenardier, Adam Searles as Gavroche, Carly Peaston-Jones as Young Cossette, James Barron as Grantaire, Mike Sterling as Combeferre, John Barr as Feuilly

Comments: The full west end cast travelled down to the Isle of Wight of the south coast of the UK to perform, in concert, at Queen Victoria's former home. Great quality recording, although a little chatter. And what sounds like digital noise but is actually rain!!! Some really great performances even if Jimmy Johnston appears to get his words wrong and the audience take over...

Comments: Full and complete recording of  the last night of the legendary musical's 16 year Broadway run and the audience are really, really enjoying it, applauding & cheering anything and everything, which although makes this a rather noisy recording as they a it does add a lot of atmosphere.Which can't be said for the few moments where you can hear the taper's heartbeat...Gavroche was played by a young Nick Jonas, from the Jonas Bros Band who would become "Marius" for the 25th London Concerts.

Truly excellent filming., Single Camera filming from the balcony to the right of centre stage. Good clear view of the stage, with some wonderful close ups. Picture is almost flawless in clarity with only the occasional focus issues when the filmer zooms in, or out, too fast. Sound is perfect. Second disc ends with full credits for the show. Comments: Single camera filming from near the front of the stalls/orchestra (Row D), to the extreme left directly in front of on of the stage entry poitns. All footage is therefore slightly side on. Picture is good and clear, but with a little washout from the brighter lights. Sound is mostly good but with a little distortion, from one of the theatre speakers, plus some rustling from the camera. Anyway, it's the first preview for the reworked show now based on the 25th UK tour rather than the traditional West End show, so the audience is seeing the changes for the first time. Some brilliant performances, and profesionalisms especially from Keala Settle who sprained her ankle during act one, and is therefore missing from "One Day More", and using a stick during the Wedding scene. Stored in 22 video files, with around 30minutes missing from the show, although these are mostly scene. All the main songs are featured although some are cut.

Comments: Single camera filming from the left side of the balcony. Good clear view of the stage. Picture is good, with some great close ups. Sound is good a clear but for a few laughs. Brilliant performances especially from Ramin, although the Eponine could be better. Show is missing the last few seconds of the finale, and the curtain calls.

Comments:
Single camera shooting almost straight on to the centre of the stage with a very clear, and good view of everything. Picture is very clear as is the sound which is remarkable as the entire show has been put on one disc. Sound is in full stereo, although it does drop to mono, briefly a couple of times, and there is a cougher on the left channel, especially at the start. As for the performances, they are quite exceptional.

Comments: One of the best recordings of the show I've heard This is very nearly soundboard in quality, which is even more remarkable seeing that the

Comments:
Single camera filming from the back of the back of the balcony. Some hidden scenes in the early part, and a touch of washout with a head in shot from time to time, but overall rather nicely filmed. Sound is very good. Staging is different as there's no turn-table in the small theatre but it's all very cleverly done, all the same with some great performances.

Comments:
Single video camera filming from way back although as most of the footage is shot from the on-site screens, this is "sort of" a pro shoot. The picture is good but not quite as sharp as it could be for the reason above. plus the very occasional, brief, blackouts when the camera is hidden (audio continues) Sound is very good. with just a touch of 'rustle'. The show performed in concert but unlike the famous London "Dream Cast" show the actors don't stand in front of microphone stands, but move and act around the stage in front of the orchestra as if they were doing the show regularly. only without any large pieces of scenery. However there are some small edits in the plot

Tech: H264, 854x478, 25fps, AAC, 92+67mins. Downloaded from youtube.  LOOKING FOR UPGRADE.
Comments: Single camera filming from the top left corner of the square audience. Good view of most of the stage. A few blacked out moments (sound continues). The show has been completely restaged in a modern style, so the camera gets 'lost' a few times but nothing major is missed. Picture quailty is less good during end of act one, but that could be a youtube issue rather than from the source. The characters, music and lyrics are the same, but the look is very different and it works really very well. .
Cast: Nehal Joshi as Valjean, Edward Watts as Javert, Allison Blackwell as Fantine, Steven Michael Walters as Thenardier, Christia Mantzke as Mme. Probably taken from the screen feed rather than the broadcast. This is the full show but has clearly been on VHS as there are noticeable signs of generation loss in the video especially in the wider, more distant shots. Thankfully though, this was mostly filmed in close up. Sound is very good though but, some of the cast microphones don't aren't triggered quickly enough. The show is performed "in concert" similar to the 'dream cast' DVD with the actors standing, in costume, in front of the orchestra. Some of the minor songs and instrumental sections weren't performed and there are some other edits, to shorten the show. with on screen captions to fill in the story gaps along with photos from a normal stage production.

Comments: Downloaded from youtube, for which I make no excuses as this is so much better than it should be. A high school production and it's simply fantastic. Sure there's a few notes that are missed, but given the cast are all between thirteen and eighteen, that can be excused, especially when the performances are as good as they are here. It's the school's edition of the show, so some minor edits, but staged as if it was the West End. Probably filmed by the school they do a great job if a touch dark in places. Some break up in the picture from the compression, and occasional sync issues, don't detract from everything going on here especially from the two male leads.
Cast:: Jean Valjean - Jonah Halton, Javert - Lewis Cochrane, Fantine - Isabelle Horler, Eponine - Bethany Parker, Enjolras - Thomas Wendes, Marius - Ben Cisneros, Cosette - Harriet Flashman, Thenardier - Timothy Houston, Madame Thenardier - Hannah Eggleton, Gavroche - Cameron Goodman, Bishop de Digne/Grantaire - Matt Lettis, Little Cosette - Scarlet Halton

Single camera pro-shot  looking from on the stage from the balcony. Some Generation loss from the initial VHS Transfer, which effects the clarity of the picture, especially during the close ups Sound though is very good. Most likely filmed by Pia Douwes' father (aka Papa-Pia)

Single camera shooting from balcony to stage right. Some heads in the way on to start with but, mostly a great view of the stage with some clear close ups Sound is very good, and, of course, is in German.  The complete cast list is overlaid across the curtain calls at the end of disc two.

Comments:
Single tripod camera filming from the right side of the stage. Good steady shooting, with great close ups. However, clearly from a VHS this does have occasional video scowl problems, and the sound volume wonders about. and does sometimes break up into crackles but it's still good. The show is mostly complete although some of the minor parts have either been omitted, or converted to spoken dialogue performed with hand held microphones and a small off stage band. It appears to be a high school production (from the age of the cast) featuring a future star of Hungarian musical theatre in the lead. and he's impressive despite being 16 or 18 (depending on source) which may explain why the focus is on him a lot of the time.
Cast: Máte Kamárás as Jean Valjean

Good, but not great, quality pro shoot of the entire show, performed in Hungarian Staging is mostly traditional but without the revolve which leads to a lot of running about. Some tape wear is evident during the wider shots although the close ups are mostly clear. Sound is great.

Comments:
The show was produced with the same cast in both years. This is probably from 2004 but there's no way to be sure. At least two cameras and maybe more. Shooting from the floor and from up high. The show was staged in what looks like an old castle making full use of all that was there, including stairs & ramparts. and even the runaway cart coming through the audience. The cast is totally brilliant with very high standards as round. Sound is soundboard. One of the best DVDs of the show in any language.
Cast:
