This is a brilliant recording of something very special

A charity performance of "Wicked" but is from an early

draft of the first act of the show with an all star cast 

Songs and scenes are rather different from any other version of the show I've heard

although you can hear, here and there, the bits that would make it through to the final show.

and there are many gags thrown into the mix such as having "Popular" sung by a gay man!!

concluding with speeches from composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz and book writer Winnie Holzman
