Comments

This was the first musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice
in 1965 but which would be left unfinished, and largely ignored, as they

went on to work on "Jesus Christ Superstar" instead.

However, for the fortieth anniversary, the show was performed at ALW's

Sydmonton Festival on 9th July 2005 which was recorded and officially released

and again, a few days later for the BBC (this recording) with much the same cast

but with some minor changes in Stephan Fry's

hilarious narration and a new introduction

The quality is perfect but for a slight radio flutter during the reprise

of "the likes of Us" at the end of CD2.
