FAQ / Rules
This Page last updated: 19 November 2007

Don't worry these are mostly guidelines and exceptions can be made if I'm in the mood.
All trades will be judged on their own merit.
The source codes and Quality Ratings are explained at the bottom of the page.

Main Rules (These will NEVER be broken)

  • Firstly: Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will I copy or trade in officially released products (even if deleted). If you want these, support the bands by buying them! Please don't include these on your list. I will, and do, check, every show before I trade.

  • Secondly: I DO NOT SELL EVER This is a trading site only so don't even bother to ask. (It's mentioned on EVERY page so don't say you weren't warned!)

  • Thirdly: No on-line trading other than in Bit Torrent trackers. My upload speed simply isn't up to it.

Trading Rules.

  • Location: I live in the South-East of England but will deal with the entire British mainland, Europe, The USA and possibly the rest of the world for the right reasons (please see my Wanted list for those reasons!)

  • CDr Media: Please don't demand I use your favorite brand of CD-r cos it won't happen. On the other hand, I don't really care what you use, as long as it works, although I would obviously prefer something other than the cheapest discs you can find.

  • Disc Format: All disc should be recorded as Disc-at-once (DAO) format without gaps between the tracks to maintain the atmosphere of the original show. Please mention if they are not as this will effect the trade.

  • Time Scale: Whoever initiates the trade sends their discs FIRST unless we've dealt before. In any case, please allow time for the discs to be made, (i.e. don't expect discs the next day.) as I do have a life outside of trading. (Honest!)

  • Extras: Trades do not include jewel cases or anything but the discs and packaging (bubble wrap envelopes with cardboard for added protection)

  • Artwork: Trades do not have to included artwork, but if  you have it, I would like it. These can be included with the trade (on 3.5" floppy discs or cheep brand CDrs) or in email or via link/s to where I can find them. Naturally I will do the same (normally by uploading them to my web space so you can download them.)

  • Show Details: Please give as much information as you can when promoting a boot including the artist (obviously), the title (if it has one or more), the full venue (name of the hall, the town, country) and as near to the complete date as you can. (I will check the details before I trade to avoid duplicating things I already have.) Plus anything special about the show (unusual tracks, extended songs, different personal, guest artists etc.) Basically anything that makes the boot stand out. And, Even if it isn't soundboard I may still want it so please be honest about the quality of the recording.  That said....

  • Ratings: All ratings I give are my opinion to which you may not agree (tough!) and I may change the them at any time. They also depend on the source and format of the show. (i.e. a 8/10 audience show may not be the same quality as a 8/10 soundboard show.)

General Site FAQ

  • Information:  Everything on these pages is correct as far as I know. If you think something is wrong let me know and I'll look into it.

  • Missing Artwork: I'm always looking for the covers I'm missing. If you have some, let me know and you could get a trade out of it. Or, if you know of a good site that hosts them, let me know so I can add them to my Links page.

  • Links: Sites listed on my Links are those I use to reference boots only. I am not responsible for the accuracy, of anything you may find there. However, if you know of a site that lists: Bootleg discographies, tour date archives, line-ups, or similar for the bands I trade in please let me know.

  • My Rips: All boots I've made from either original source audio tapes, video tape or even good old vinyl are marked in brown on the listings pages. These may differ from other versions available and may not line up exactly to the displayed cover art.

  • MP3 Sourced Discs: There are quite a few of these on the site - all are clearly marked in Red on the listings pages and under 'Source' on the individual show pages  - if you don't want them. Don't ask for them!

  • RM (Real Audio) Sourced Discs: These are all clearly marked in Green and may suffer from the limitations of the original Real Audio compression.

  • Good Traders: All successful traders will be added to the Good Traders and linked via their website or e-mail address unless they don't want to be.

  • Bad Traders: I've not met any yet and would like to keep it that way if you don't mind!

Source Codes

Code Short For Explanation
Audio

SB

Soundboard

Good clean stereo sound direct from the mixing desk.

The purest of these won't have any audience noise but most do.

 FM

 Radio Broadcast

(Stereo or Mono)

Similar to SB rating but may contain transmission errors

(flutter, hiss, static etc) overly talkative DJ's or Station ID's

or edits / fades where those have been removed

AU

Audience

Recorded from out front by one, or more, audience member/s.

Quality of these will depend on when they were recorded,

the equipment used, and if they've been remixed since.

However, some audience recordings can be as good,

if not better, than FM or SB ones.

MP3

Disc was made

from MP3 files.

Titles also marked in Red

I don't generally want to trade in MP3 sourced discs as,

after all, I could - and have - download them myself.

RM

Disc was made

 from Real Audio files

Titles also marked in Green

I don't generally want to trade in RM sourced discs as,

after all, I could - and have - download them myself.

cameras operated by a member or members of the audience

Quality Rating
This is a basic guide to my rating system.

The reasons for/or against these will be mentioned on the show's own page.

Ratings are dependent on the source of the show.

A 9/10 audience show will not sound the same as a 9/10 soundboard one!!

Comments

10*/10

Better than Perfect!!!!

Usually a fully authored DVD whose picture quality matches its perfect audio

10/10

Perfect.

The dog's b*$£$*ks. Nothing short of Perfect.

9/10

Brilliant.

Better than average soundboard or outstanding audience.

8/10

Very Good.

The standard for Soundboard / FM show. Good for an audience disc.

7/10

Good

Either a SB / FM with some interference. Standard for an Audience show.

6/10

Okay

Usually audience with interference, too much crowd noise or likewise but still bearable.

5/10

Poor

Poor quality, not to be touched unless you really, REALLY want it.

4/10

Bad to Very Bad.

You won't want anything rated this low. Trust me!

3/10
(or less)
Waste of disc.
Anything rated this low was thrown away and not even listed.
